Yesterday, we brought you spy shots of a very aggressive looking Camaro caught testing at the Nurburgring. Today, you get to hear it roar. We’ve got a sneaking suspicion this is the new Z/28, and judging by the way it looks, it’s out for Mustang Shelby GT350R blood.
But all of the aero, chassis, engine, and brake work didn’t stop it from meeting the wall. The driver and passenger were both ok, but it looks like the Camaro took a pretty solid hit to the right front. That should spell the end of testing for today and likely for the week.
What we can tell from the video before the crash is that this Z/28 definitely doesn’t sound like it has turbo V6 power, as has been suggested. It sounds a lot like a V8, but we can’t say which one for sure. While it makes sense that the Z/28 would be naturally aspirated, Chevrolet couldn’t meet their targets with a naturally aspirated Z06 and had to go forced induction for it. Could it be a detuned LT4? We’ll have to wait and see.
