Camaros of Michigan started making these Camaro Key Fob Insert Fillers because we believe these inserts are no longer being made or offered. This is a great way to give your Camaro key fob a clean, finished look and make it stand out.

In June 2014, General Motors (GM) recalled certain flip-key/RKE transmitter assemblies used on 2010-2015 5th Gen Chevrolet Camaro vehicles. The recall involved a safety concern where a driver’s knee could bump the key fob while driving, potentially causing the ignition key to rotate to the accessory or off position. This could shut off the engine and disable important systems, including the airbags, power steering, and power brake assist, increasing the risk of a crash.

As part of the recall repair, GM removed the switchblade key from the key fob and replaced it with a conventional key. This repair left an open hole in the key fob where the switchblade key had previously been.

That is where our CAMARO Key Fob Insert Filler comes in.

We designed this filler piece to fit into the opening left after the switchblade key was removed due to the GM recall. It gives your key fob a more finished appearance while adding a unique CAMARO, SS, RS wording touch.

Important: If your key fob still has the original switchblade key, this CAMARO Key Fob Insert Filler will not work with your key fob.

Tip: While you have your key fob apart to install the filler, it is a good time to replace the key fob battery if needed. Also, because this insert is made from PLA, avoid leaving the key fob in direct sunlight or excessive heat, as PLA can soften or deform at elevated temperatures.

To install the insert, you will need to disassemble your existing key fob. While you have the key fob apart, it may be a good time to replace the battery.

This insert is 3D printed from PLA filament. Please do not leave your key fob in direct sunlight or exposed to excessive heat for extended periods of time, as high temperatures may cause the insert to warp or melt. As many of these we sold we have not had a problem with this.

Key Fob Filler Insert Installation Instructions

Tools Needed:

• Small flathead screwdriver or small plastic trim tool.

• Precision knife for trimming is required.

• Small needle nose pliers.

Open the Key Fob

1. Locate the seam along the edge of the key fob.

2. Use a small flathead screwdriver or small plastic trim tool to gently pry open the fob.

3. Separate the front and back covers carefully without damaging the clips or the edges of the key fob.
