More power and more revs.
The 2023 Chevrolet Camaro will get the LT2 V8 found in the current Corvette Stingray.
That’s the latest rumor doing the rounds, suggesting that the newer LT2 engine will be used in all models still using the LT1 engine, which happens to be the Camaro LT1 and SS models. As a reminder, the LT1 6.2-liter V8 produces 455 hp and 455 lb-ft. The newer LT2 6.2-liter makes 490 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque. Those gains are hardly massive, but the engine should feel significantly different.
The LT1 provides maximum power at 6,000 rpm, and maximum torque arrives at 4,400 rpm. The LT2 delivers its power at 6,450 rpm, while the torque comes at 5,150 rpm. In other words, you get to rev it out a bit more, which is always pleasing in a naturally aspirated car. It’s 90% of why the new Z06 is such a fine thing to drive.
