The new Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R race car has been making quite a statement since its announcement, and for good reason. With ample power, styling, and a laundry list of upgrades, this Camaro is ready to show off on the track. To top it off, Forgeline Wheels happen to be the official wheel of the new Camaro GT4.R. Using the insanely strong and American made G1SR wheel built exclusively for racing, the G1SR checks all the boxes that would be required while using on a proper race car. Using one piece forged monoblock construction and I-beamed spokes, these wheels offer an insane 2,100 pound street tire load rating–thanks to the single forging of 6061-T6 aluminum.
This isn’t the first time Forgeline Motorsports wheels have been used on the track, however. With a GS championship back in 2015, Stevenson Motorsport and their 5th gen Camaro participated in the Continental Challenge. Thinking back on that, it’s rather fitting that they will also be the first team to compete in the Continental Challenge again but this time with the GT4.R. “It’s an honor for Forgeline Motorsports to be selected as a supplier to the exciting Camaro GT4.R program,” said David Schardt, President of Forgeline Motorsports.
“With two decades of racing experience under our belt, Forgeline has a proven record and understands what it takes to design and build a strong, lightweight wheel for the rigors of the racetrack.” Turning the Forgline G1SR wheels is the Lt1 V8 powerplant from Chevy, which is estimated to be putting down over 400 horsepower from its 6.2-liter engine. Naturally, the GT4.R has a six speed sequential transmission, limited slip differential, Ohlins coilovers, and Brembo Brakes. Oh, and let’s not forget about the new aero kit which looks good and helps keep this car planted. With a seemingly mile long list of mods, the GT4.R with Forgeline G1SR wheels will be a terror to opponents on the track.
